Bill Maher has been the coolest caucasian political commentator for as long as I can remember (just barely edging out Jon Stewart). I mean, he openly dated Karrine Steffans and is a staunch defender of hemp in all of it’s useful usefulness along with being the most unapologetic liberal voice with a late night talk show — so yeah, on TCM’s checklist, that’s about as cool as it gets.

But in 2008, on an episode of Maher’s weekly political roundtable, Real Time, Christiane Amanpour dropped this War On Terror bombshell that was unfortunately underplayed. That is until it proved absolutely true last Sunday…
